Parrot Training

Welcome to my website. Click on the video below to see an average guy train his parrot to:

  1. Fly to him
  2. Fly back to it’s perch
  3. Fly from it’s perch to it’s cage

Thanks for watching the cool video above. That average “guy” in the video is me and I made this YouTube video of my parrot doing tricks to show off to my friends. They were so impressed because they didn’t even know I could do it. It was so unexpected for them.

How did I train my parrot to do all those tricks like flying to me and away from me, back to it’s perch and then back to it’s cage? I bought a parrot training video system, watched it and then followed the simple steps. Yes, it’s actually that easy. The parrot training video system I bought is called the Bird Tricks Training System (see more below).

Firstly, let me tell you about Roger, my Princess Parrot

My wife and I bought Roger from a lovely lady who kept Princess Parrots for her own enjoyment and not for breeding or selling. Only through a referral from her good friend did she agree to sell one of her babies to us. This mean that Roger was not even hand-reared so have never had a human touched him before we bought him at a young age of 7 months old.

Why did I buy this DVD training system?

It’s because in the video, the trainer will start with an untrained parrot and then start training it in stages. This appealed to me because my new parrot is untrained so I knew already that Roger was not going to let me touch him without trying to bite me. I’m one of those guy who wants to get the best out of life but is also short on time, and since a parrot will live 20 – 50 years, I didn’t want to waste years of my life figuring out how to train my parrot myself. I wanted to train it ASAP so I can enjoying having a well-trained bird.

So I bought the parrot training system from Bird Tricks

The seller is from America so it took about three weeks for the DVDs to arrive at my house but that was not problems because upon purchasing, I was given access to some ebooks so I can start reading it right away. The ebooks are pretty good but it’s better to wait for the DVDs becaues you can learn more by seeing the training in action.

After watching the video and understanding the parrot training concept. I started to train Roger a little bit at a time every day. In a space of one day, Roger wasn’t scare of me and was eating millet out of my hand. After I’ve earned Roger’s trust (a bit) I started to do more exciting tricks with him. My first mission was to get him to step onto my finger, something he has never done before. That good three days to master and from there it was one-step-at-a-time in adding new tricks for Roger to learn.

In this parrot training video, the trainig is done in chapters or stages so after watching the entire training video, I started to watch each chapter as I progress in my training of Roger.

How did the Parrot Training Video help my parrot?

This parrot training video is really good because I really believe it benefit Roger too. From knowing the right technique I was able to get Roger to quickly learn to trust me and that I was not going to hurt him. A natural instinct of any non hand-reared bird is to fly away when we approaches.

I also believe that he enjoy learning these tricks. Many times, he would do a trick even before I gave him the signal because he learnt to know what I wanted him to do just from my body and hand posture.

What’s next?

Now that Roger and I have a great relationship and he knows some basic management tricks. I’m going to teach him some advance tricks like:

  • Fetching small objects like a key
  • Dropping these small objects into a cup or even a coin into a piggy bank
  • Turn around on my finger or his perch on command
  • Play dead

All these are covered in the Bird Tricks video trainnig system so it will not cost me anything extra.
